  • It is believed that Sans Cats are capable of survival for a long time without drinking water. That is how they live in the desert.

  • Sand cats live a solitary life, except during the mating period.

  • They are one of the hardest cat species to breed in captivity because they are used to being in an open space. More than 4 in 10 cats bred in captivity die at a young age. This is the main reason they are endangered.

  • There are less than 200 sand cats currently held in zoos only. There are even less in the wild.

Fact 5
  • They are mainly nocturnal animals, making them even harder to study because they are always out hunting and are never in the same spot.

While most cats have good hearing, sand cats have developed their hearing even more. This allows them to hunt for prey which is very important because if their going to live than they might want to eat to stay alive.
